Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-07-26. This describes what VolleyRecruiting collects, why it exists, who else can see it, and how to get it removed.
1. The short version
- We collect what a college coach would need to evaluate an athlete, plus what is needed to bill you. Nothing else.
- There are no advertising or analytics trackers on this site.No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recording. You can verify this in your browser’s network tab.
- We never sell or share personal information, and we never send email on your behalf. We do not connect to your mailbox at all.
- Everything is private until you turn on one of three switches — publish a profile page, publish film to the Clips feed, or let recruiters find you. They are separate, none implies another, and all three are off to begin with. Section 5 says exactly what each one exposes and to whom.
- You can switch any of them off at any time, with or without an active subscription.
- Deleting your account deletes the data with it.
2. Who we are
VolleyRecruiting is operated by Cannon Potter. Privacy requests go to cannon.potter1@gmail.com, or by post to 1233 S 1410 E, Provo, UT 84606.
3. What we collect
| Category | Specifically | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address and a password, handled by our authentication provider. | To let you sign in and to reach you about your account. |
| Athlete profile | Name, graduating class, position, height, club, high school, region, GPA, intended major. | These are the fields a coach asks for, and they fill in the introduction email you send. GPA and intended major are shown to paying recruiters if you turn on switch three in section 5; they are never on your public page. |
| Film | Video files you upload, and the start and end times of clips you mark in them. | To assemble a highlight reel you can link to. |
| Outreach | Your message draft, which programs are on your list, and a record of the messages you told us you sent. | To show you who you have already contacted and when a follow-up is reasonable. See section 6. |
| Billing | A customer and subscription identifier from Stripe, your subscription status, and your renewal date. | To know whether your subscription is active. |
What we do not collect
We never see your card number.Payment details are entered on Stripe’s own checkout page and never reach our servers. We hold only the identifiers listed above.
We never access your email account. VolleyRecruitingdoes not send email for you. It opens a pre-filled draft in your own mail app, which you read and send yourself. We have no permission to your mailbox, we cannot read your inbox, and we cannot see a coach’s reply unless you tell us one arrived.
4. Athletes under 18, and parents
This service is about high-school athletes, so most profiles describe a minor. Two rules follow from that.
- An account must be opened by an adult, or by a student who is at least 13. VolleyRecruiting is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account here, email cannon.potter1@gmail.com and we will delete it.
- A parent or guardian can ask for anything on this list.Access, a copy, correction, or deletion of their child’s data, and they can withdraw consent to our holding it at all. We will not require the athlete’s separate permission to honour a guardian’s request.
5. What becomes public, and only when you say so
Everything is private by default. Nothing about an athlete is visible to anyone else until somebody turns on one of three separate switches. They are separate on purpose — turning one on never turns on another — because they are three different decisions about a child, and most of the people using this are minors.
Switch one: publish a profile page
Creates a page at https://volleyrecruiting.com/p/your-name that anyone with the link can open, with no login — which is the point, since a coach should not need an account to look at an athlete. It shows name, class, position, height, club, high school and region, and any film published under switch two. It does not show an email address, a phone number, a GPA, an exact location, or an outreach list.
Switch two: publish film to the Clips feed
Puts individual clips into a public feed that strangers scroll — not only people handed a link. Each clip becomes its own card showing first and last name, graduating class, position, club and state. It does not show region, school, GPA or any contact detail.
Signed-in users can comment on that film. Comments show a first name and a last initial, never a full name. The family can hide any comment on their own film at any time, and can turn comments off entirely while leaving the film up. Hidden comments are kept rather than deleted, so that if you ever need to show somebody what was said, you can.
Switch three: let recruiters find you
Puts the athlete into a database that paying recruiters can search by class, position and state. This is the one worth reading twice, because it is the broadest:
- A recruiter account is open to anyone who pays.College coaches, club coaches, junior-college staff, evaluators. Accounts whose email appears on a published college staff page are marked “verified”, but verification is a label shown to you — it is not a requirement to hold an account or to search.
- They see more than the public page does, including GPA, intended major, reach and vertical measurements, and any offers the athlete has recorded. That is the information a coach evaluates on, and it is why this switch is not the same decision as publishing a page.
- They never see contact details. No email address, no phone number. A recruiter who is interested cannot contact the athlete through this service — the athlete contacts them, from their own address, first.
- Every recruiter account records a name, organisation and role, so anybody looking at these profiles is a named person at a named organisation rather than an anonymous card.
Turning any of them off
Immediate, and available at https://volleyrecruiting.com/settings/privacy whether or not you have an active subscription. A lapsed subscription must never leave a child in a public feed or a searchable index with no way out, so that page is deliberately outside the paywall and includes taking film out of the feed.
What switching off cannot do is reach something somebody already downloaded, and search engines may hold a cached copy of a public page for a while.
Because all three switches concern a minor, a parent or guardian should be the one deciding.
6. Coaches whose contact details appear here
The program directory lists coaching staff — name, job title, and the work email address the athletics department publishes on its own public staff directory. We collect only what those pages publish, we do not guess or generate email addresses, and we do not collect personal phone numbers or home addresses.
If you are a coach and you want your entry removed, email cannon.potter1@gmail.com from any address and say so. You do not need an account, you do not need to explain, and we will remove it and not re-add it on a later crawl. To be clear about what the entry does: it lets a family address an email to you, which they then send themselves from their own address. We do not send you anything, and being listed does not put you on a mailing list.
7. Who else processes your data
We use a small number of vendors to run the service. Each one is listed here with what it can see. We do not use any others, and none of them are advertising companies.
| Vendor | What it does | What it can see |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, and file storage, hosted in the United States. | Everything in section 3 except payment details. |
| Vercel | Runs the website itself. | Request logs, including IP address, as any web server keeps. Not your profile contents. |
| Stripe | Takes payment. | Your name, email, and card details, which you give directly to them. |
8. How long we keep it
- While your account exists, we keep your profile, film, and outreach history, because the product is the history.
- When you delete your account, the profile, film, clips, reels, campaigns, and message records are deleted with it.
- Payment records are the exception. Stripe keeps transaction records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and we cannot delete those for you.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, export it, or delete it. Email cannon.potter1@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days. We will not charge you for it and we will not make the service worse for you because you asked.
If you are in California, the CCPA gives you those rights explicitly, plus the right to know whether we sell or share your personal information. We do not, for any price, including the personal information of anyone under 16. There is nothing to opt out of because there is no sale to opt out of.
10. Security
Every table is protected by row-level security in the database, which means access is denied at the data layer rather than only in application code — one account cannot read another account’s rows even if the website has a bug. Uploaded film sits in a private bucket whose access rules are pinned to your account. Traffic is encrypted in transit.
No system is perfect, and it would be dishonest to promise otherwise. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will email you and describe what happened.
11. Changes
If we change this in a way that matters, we will change the effective date at the top and email account holders before it takes effect. We will not quietly start doing something this page says we do not do.
See also the Terms of Service, which cover the $19.99/month subscription and what this product does and does not promise.
